Job Summary

A news producer has the unique opportunity to be involved in the background and forefront of television productions, ranging from political shows to documentaries and even news broadcasts. The producer is mostly in charge of one or more programs to see that it runs smoothly

Duties and Responsibilities

• Generate ideas for his/her programme and discuss it with the presenter
• Help presenters invite guests to ensure a balanced panel
• Suggest developments and creativities to his/her show(s)
• Report his or her daily activities to manager
• Produce no more than three shows
• Available in urgent cases and to producer or present other show(s) in the absence of fellow presenter(s)
• Originate and develop programme ideas; assist in forward planning of material for future programmes
• Provide briefings for reporters, camera crews and other resources staff and contributors
• Composes or edits program script to meet management or other requirements
• Gives instructions to staff to schedule broadcast and to develop and coordinate details to obtain desired production
• Reviews production to ensure objectives are attained
• Views taped program to select scenes to be used for promotional purposes, using video equipment
• Listens to audio tape recording to verify program, script, or sound effects conform to broadcast standards, using audio equipment
• To represent television network, acting as liaison to independent producer of television series produced for network broadcast
• To review budget and expenditures for programs for conformance to budgetary restrictions
• To coordinate production details to produce live television programs from locations to station
• Sending Daily, Weekly and monthly reports to line manager
• Perform other duties as requested by manager


Job Requirements



• University degree (Journalism, Political science or Literature)
• Good communication skills in Dari and Pashto
• Basics of English language
• Analytical skills
• Responsibility and ability to work under pressure is required
• Relevant work experience
